A vacancy exists for a highly motivated person with appropriate working hour flexibility, knowledge and skills, to join our friendly, supportive and very "busy" 24 hour, 7 day a week roster in the Emergency Department. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to provide roster cover for vacant day and overnight shifts as a result of regular gaps in the roster, unexpected leave, illness and those shifts not covered by full time staff. This can be with minimal notice.

This position will not suit those undertaking full time or part time study .

  • Do you like a challenge? Do you prefer not to be “tied to a desk” all day? Do you have flexible availability 24 hours?
  • Do you have previous experience and are familiar with the health industry, or do you feel your work skills could translate to our Emergency Department where you would be interviewing and registering patients arriving in our ED by ambulance?
  • Do you have experience working with people from diverse groups have excellent communication skills and can work in a fast paced environment?
  • Do you have high quality communication and data entry skills?

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Capacity to work a 7 day week, 24 hour shift roster including public holidays, demonstrating flexibility in line with roster demands for a frontline position which impacts directly on patient flow and safety within the Emergency Department.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • A commitment to attention and detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team in a busy, often hectic work environment, whilst maintaining a high level of customer focus.
  • Excellent keyboard skills with previous data entry experience and demonstrated skills in multi-tasking
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to interview, liaise with and be supportive of patients presenting with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions
