The role

Reporting to the Coordinator Financial Accounting, you will be a key member of the Financial Accounting team. The Financial Accounting team is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of the City of Ballarat, all external reporting including the Annual Financial Statements, all taxation requirements and internal compliance issues. The Administration Officer is responsible for providing direct assistance to the Financial Accounting team in the administration of the City of Ballarat’s general ledger and reporting packages.

About you

The City is looking for an experienced Administration Officer to perform several essential duties within the Financial Accounting team. Duties will include performing the main bank reconciliation, assisting with end of month reconciliations and general assistance to the team. Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable would be an advantage.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in a finance environment is considered highly desirable.

  • Proficient in the use of a computerised accounting system along with Microsoft Excel and SharePoint

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise a wide range of responsibilities to achieve set objectives within strict timeframes.

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and advanced interpersonal skills to negotiate and resolve all financial requirements.

  • Demonstrated book-keeping experience in a professional environment
