Under current Public Health Emergency Directions all Canberra Health Services staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

These casual positions are short term during the COVID19 Pandemic, intended to support the health professional workforce during periods of high service demand and /or if the workforce is depleted. Roles and duties as a result will vary, and under the supervision and direction of a health professional may include deployment to support:

Implementation of therapeutic health professional services in the inpatient and community sectors

Delivery of ADL equipment to support patient safety

COVID19 surge services

Administrative support



Under professional supervision you will perform a range of duties at Canberra Health Services. You will:

  • Participate in the implementation of allied health interventions, providing accurate and timely progress reports to the managing health professional and working effectively and collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Perform administrative tasks as required such maintaining statistical records, records management and appointment coordination
  • Provide high quality customer service including receiving telephone calls and responding appropriately.
  • Operate a variety of Microsoft and Business applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Undertaking other duties as directed, within the approved scope of clinical practice ensuring the delivery of high-quality person and family centred, safe and high-quality patient care.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Final year allied health student

Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:

Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Be registered under the Working for Vulnerable People Act.
Comply with Canberra Health Services credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals
Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening & vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases
