  • HEW 6, $81,274 per annum plus 17% superannuation
  • Part-time – 0.6 (22.05 hours per week) and fixed-term till 31 March 2024

This exciting opportunity working in a small dedicated team where your expertise will be valued. You will ensure successful and timely communications and engagement for the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies (CRIS). The role is responsible for the development and implementation of highly effective communications strategies to assist in growing the profile of the Centre and its research and program outcomes.

The ideal person for this role will have outstanding communication skills with the ability to identify and grow relevant diverse target audiences to communicate key achievements, impacts and milestones for the Centre.

You will have a proven understanding of the use of various digital platforms and updating and continuous enhancement of web sites, including companion websites that support the Centre’s objectives and impacts.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media or related field
  • Recent relevant experience in communications or marketing roles and experience in digital channels
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining high quality, user friendly website platforms, systems and content.
  • Significant experience using MailChimp and social media platforms to connect and engage with audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience organising events such as conferences, forums and symposia.
  • Proven ability to deliver compelling and successful communications and engagement strategies and campaigns in the not-for-profit, higher education, NGO or similar sectors.
  • Proven capacity to translate complex or technical writing to plain English content which is accessible to non-expert audiences.
  • Outstanding written communication skills including long-form stories, promotional copywriting, blog posts, annual reports, interviews and profiles and demonstrated creative capacity including producing innovative and engaging content.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, tact, and professional approach including capacity to work calmly under pressure, flexibly in response to changing priorities and impromptu requests, and take a ‘hands on’ approach to a diverse range of tasks undertaken by the Institute professional team.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop, implement and maintain outstanding digital and electronic communication and marketing strategies, including audience identification and targeting, for CRIS and its specific research and program teams and projects to effectively engage multiple audiences and stakeholders with its work.
  • Create, curate and coordinate high-quality online content across multiple digital platforms which is engaging, relevant, innovative, and responsive to the interests of CRIS audiences, stakeholders and narratives. This may involve contributing to and working across related Deakin-based web platforms that strategically inform CRIS’s overall profile and objectives.
  • Deliver and maintain a coordinated and strategic electronic and digital presence which contributes to CRIS’s project and program objectives, achievements and impacts and raises its research and program profile at state, national and international levels.
  • Proactively identify and respond to opportunities to communicate CRIS research and programs to further develop the standing and digital presence of CRIS and its researchers.
  • Conduct analysis and reporting to generate informed understandings of the success of CRIS’s communication and marketing tools and strategies including social media, websites and newsletters.
