Role: Epidemiologist (fixed term until 31 December 2021)

Position Summary

  • Provide epidemiological support and advice to the COVID-19 Division teams by investigating links between cases and the transmission dynamics in clusters.
  • Maintain situational awareness of the evolving public health response issues relevant to epidemiology of COVID-19 cohorts in Victoria


  • Report to Pod Leads and work closely with Senior Epidemiologists, and Data Managers. Conduct epidemiological investigation and analysis of COVID-19 cases, contacts and outbreaks.
  • Undertake epidemiological analysis of COVID-19 surveillance data from specific cohorts of interest and provide best practice public health advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on key epidemiological insights to the Cohorts Manager and Pod Leads.
  • Attend relevant meetings to stay updated on developments and provide your own updates to the team on your findings.
  • Investigate and document findings on specific issues as they arise, as requested by the Pod Manager. Maintain situational awareness of the evolving epidemiological issues relevant to the cohort that is the remit of your pod.
  • Apply this to your investigations and update CCOM and DIME teams of relevant issues when appropriate.
  • Work with the embedded Senior Project Leads to ensure timely progress updates on key pieces of work and communicating risks and issues to Pod Leads and the Cohorts Manager.
  • Ensure accurate and complete storage of all documents according to the departments records management policy.
