St Peter Chanel is situated in The Gap and draws on the traditions and ethos of the Marist fathers and the Sisters of Charity who founded our school. The school is set in beautiful grounds and is well resourced. We provide an inclusive curriculum and environment that caters for approximately 300 students from Prep to Year 6. As a Catholic parish school, we promote a welcoming and vibrant community where respectful and positive relationships are fostered with our parents, carers and the parish community.

St Peter Chanel Primary School, The Gap is seeking a part-time Finance Officer for 9 hours per week, preferably over two days, to job share a part time position. The Finance Officer assists the Principal and School Leadership Team in a wide variety of administrative and financial tasks to support the financial operations of the School. Brisbane Catholic Education requirements and Government legislation means it is necessary to produce accurate financial figures to meet set deadlines. Reporting to and the under the direction of the Principal, the Finance Officer role coordinates the financial administration activities and provides key support to ensure the school delivers on these deadlines through the roles interaction with staff and members of the school community.

Duties include:

  • reconciliation of accounts,
  • cashier and banking duties,
  • data entry,
  • report preparation, and
  • other office duties assigned as appropriate.

The successful applicant will:

  • show initiative,
  • be able to work as a member of a team,
  • be a skilful negotiator,
  • be able to liaise with the schools clients with empathy
  • be highly organized and
  • be able to demonstrate sound judgement and discretion.
  • Experience with the BCE finance system AX Dynamics would be highly desirable, but not essential.

Position Tenure: Fixed Term

Weeks Worked: School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term): for the 2022 school year

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 2 days/week - days to be negotiated (9 hours/week)

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 5 - $34.37 per hour

Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement

As from 23 January 2022 all BCE Schools will be an environment where all employees are fully COVID vaccinated as directed by the Queensland Chief Health Officer.

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
