As the Haematology Administration Assistant, you will provide a high level of administrative support to the Director of Clinical Haematology and the Clinical Haematology medical staff, including clinical trials. The Administrative Officer will be required to assist the Director, Clinical Haematology to achieve the Department’s strategic goals, including the development and maintenance of a Haematology patient database. The Administrative Officer will also be required to manage departmental and interdepartmental communications and ensure all support is provided within the policies, procedures and values of the organisation. Additional duties include:

  • Manage and coordinate diary/meeting schedules, including meeting/appointment requests and arrange meetings as requested

  • Coordinate functions and meetings as requested, including timely preparation of agendas completion of minutes and distribution

  • Coordinate all external clinics and appointments, including MBS billing, outpatient clinic letters, diagnostic results, filing and correspondence.

  • Provide administration support to leave management

  • Organisation of education sessions, quality days, workshops and forums

  • Provide administration and coordination with strategic planning and quality improvement projects.

 

The classification for this position will be a HS2 ($66,768 base salary per annum; pro rata for part time position).

 

Your Contribution

  • Previous experience in health care setting

  • At least two years experience in an administrative role

  • Ability to determine workload priorities, self initiate and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise competing demands

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels

  • National criminal history check

About Clinical Haematology

Clinical Haematology at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is provided across a broad range of inpatient and ambulatory settings. The service provides diagnosis and management of a broad range of malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions, specialising in plasma cell myeloma, acute and chronic leukaemias, lymphomas, autologous stem cell transplantation and bleeding and thrombotic disorders; a comprehensive consultation service is also in place. There is a strong focus on clinical trials and research and care is provided in the acute inpatient setting, the chemotherapy day unit, the apheresis unit and specialist and cancer care clinics.
