About the Role...

 


An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Library Services team for a passionate and community-focused individual to take on the role of Children Services Officer.

 


Reporting to the Manager Library Services, this key role assists in the provision of a Library Service that meets the information, educational, recreational, language and literacy needs of the community. Importantly, it also supports and delivers an effective education program for early childhood, school age and youth in the City of Playford area.

 


The role is offered full time (76 hours per fortnight), ongoing.

 


Key Accountabilities...

 


Plan, develop and deliver programming for Children’s library activities including, but not limited to;

  • Story time and Book Bugs;
  • Working with local childcare centres, kindergartens and schools to facilitate visits to
    Library branches;
  • Develop and run yearly school holiday program schedule across Council’s Library
    branches; and
  • Assist with the development and provision of community literacy strategies.

 


About You...

 


It’s important to us that you are the right fit to join our team, but just as important, that Playford is the right place for you. Ideally, the successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in Education (Early Childhood/Primary) or a relevant field and/or demonstrated equivalent experience, with a thorough understanding of literacy principles as they relate to children, school age or youth.

 


In addition, you will possess:

  • Proven knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework;
  • Understanding and knowledge of early literacy, child development and learning
    theories;
  • Demonstrated ability and passion to work with a variety of target groups;
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and youth;
  • Ability and desire to work in conjunction with volunteers; and
  • Passion for working with and for the community.
