Job Description:
Unique and successful Trade Training Centre established and ready for next stage in business development, providing industry standard vocational training and education for Anangu learners.

Strategic role managing and developing vocational education facility and programs, with associated student short stay accommodation, located in regional administrative centre.

Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Trade Training Centre (APY TTC) is a purpose-built training facility, located at Umuwa, in the remote far north-west of South Australia. Umuwa is the centrally located administrative centre for the APY Lands and provides a destination for young Anangu that is central, on independent land, and provides training in dedicated weekly blocks of time.

The APY TTC provides a service to the 10 schools of the Department for Education Anangu Lands Partnership that are spread across the remote and isolated far north and western Aboriginal lands of the Yalata, Maralinga Tjarutja and APY Anangu (people). There are very limited services in this area. The traditional Anangu owners of these lands manage the area through elected Councils and the areas are designated dry areas meaning no alcohol or drugs are permitted.

Students travel to Umuwa from their home community to undertake specific industry vocational training aimed at providing career insight, increased capability, and credit towards SACE. Accommodation at Umuwa for students attending the facility is provided through the APY TTC Student Accommodation. APY TTC is operational for 48 weeks per calendar year, and is also available for weekend activity, however does not operate during the December — January school holiday period.

The role facilitates and models a culture of excellence in trade training services, leading and managing a high performing team in the initiation, development, delivery and evaluation, of innovative vocational training strategy, plans, and services, and ensures the effective management and integration of significant financial and human resources.

The Principal Manager, APY TTC works extensively and collaboratively with peak industry and employer associations, individual employers, registered training organisations (RTO’s), unions and senior personnel in the local govemment, non-government and tertiary sectors and interstate systems. This role is required to consult and negotiate with, and provide advice to, industry, community and the eight APY Lands school principals and leaders to facilitate the development of appropriate school structures and preparatory support programs for young people to undertake VET Programs and Transition programs from school to work and /or further education and training.

This position sits within a leadership support structure (LET+, Local Education Team Plus) which includes Education Director (ED), Assistant ED and other specialist leaders. There is an expectation that all leaders use the Department for Education policies and procedures as the framework for decision making. Principal Manager, APY TTC reports directly to the Education Director Flinders Park 1 Portfolio.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants are required to submit a CV, Application Cover Sheet, Employment Declaration, and a written statement of no more than 1500 words. Written statements should address the key selection criteria outlined in the Role Description. Applicants should include the name, address and contact number of three (3) referees, one being your current line manager.

Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse & Neglect – Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every five years. Remuneration:
MAS 3 – $122,274 p.a.

Special Note:
This position is based at Umuwa in the remote far north-west of South Australia.

Accommodation will be provided through Teacher Housing Arrangements located at either Ernabella or Kenmore Park (negotiable).
