Manager Employee Relations

Work Location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

As the Manager, Employee Relations this position will partner collaboratively with peers and management teams across FFI providing advice and guidance on people matters.

The ideal person best suited for this position and team, will have extensive experience in delivering an ER/IR strategy with a true passion for people and natural influencing skills.


Key accountabilities will include:

  • Plan and execute the employee and industrial relations strategy, both domestically and internationally, and build a strong team along the way
  • Provide expert advice to the leadership and human resources teams regarding employee relations issues, legislation, policies and procedures
  • Undertake and manage investigations into workplace grievances or concerns
  • Build capability through coaching, development and in-house training of leadership and human resources team
  • Prepare papers and updates for internal and external stakeholders as required (including our executive committee and Board members)
  • Management of employee claims via the Fair Work Commission, Human Rights Commission and Equal opportunity Commission
  • Liaise and network with appropriate industry bodies on behalf of FFI and contribute to policy outcomes

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Extensive practical experience in ER and IR, preferably in the construction industry
  • Highly developed knowledge of ER and IR theory, principles, policies, practices and employment legislation
  • Experience in developing, leading and implementing strategic ER/IR and human resources plans to assist the business in achieving its goals
  • Excellent ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, at limited notice
  • Ability to think critically and analyse complex issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
