About School Infrastructure

School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

 

 

About the role

You will lead and manage a team of specialist staff overseeing development consent conditions and mitigation issues identified in Review of Environmental Factors (REF's) providing strategic advice directly to SINSW Directors and senior managers to ensure SINSW projects comply with statutory requirements.

 

 

The Statutory Planning unit works closely with educational and construction experts. They navigate the vast array of urban planning and compliance considerations encountered when planning and constructing the teaching and learning facilities NSW students need and deserve. The unit looks to ensure all development is compliant with the relevant statutory and consent requirements for the benefit of our school communities – in city centres, regional areas and within individual classrooms.

 

 

A strong leader, you will adjust performance development processes to meet the diverse abilities and needs of individuals and teams working collaboratively to support the team in achieving business outcomes.

PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS

  • Please provide an example where you have identified and actioned a planning consent compliance risks or issues that existed across an organisation. (300 words maximum).
  • Describe the approach you have taken to communicate technical planning compliance issues to a project team member with limited planning knowledge. (300 words maximum).

 

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in town planning, environmental management, building surveying, compliance, engineering, law or other relevant discipline and/or experience in the processes and operational and strategic requirements that ensure SINSW projects are constructed and operated in accordance with the relevant statutory approvals and legislative requirements.
