To support this vision an Assistant Director, Cyber Security role has been created to form part of the ICT Services leadership team. An executive renumerated role, accountable to the Director, ICT Technical Services, the position will play a lead role in setting the direction for cyber security strategies across the education system, with a focus on supporting the development of high quality, technical solutions that are fit for purpose, customer-focussed, and measurable for impact.

About the opportunity

  • Lead the development and implementation of cyber security strategies, projects and services that contribute to the strategic goals of the department and broader public sector.
  • Represent the ICT Services division and department at senior level and inter-agency delegations and negotiations pertaining to cyber security.
  • Provide strategic leadership and continue the expansion of the current cyber security function and team.
  • Lead major projects relating to cyber security across a large and complex state-wide system.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships, networks and partnerships with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and deliver successful outcomes.

About you

  • A cyber security professional with a passion to make a positive difference to the lives of students within the public education system.
  • A strategic thinker, with demonstrated capacity to identify improvement opportunities and lead for change.
  • Exceptional management and leadership skills, including the ability to provide broad direction to multi-disciplinary teams working on projects requiring high quality results within defined timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and conceptualise problems, formulate and execute appropriate solutions and negotiate successful outcomes in an innovative and resourceful manner.
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic agent of change, implementing an enterprise level cyber security program.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in the delivery of cyber security programs.

Overall, you will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to establish highly effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and will possess a genuine passion for making a difference towards the lives of South Australian children and young people. Your professional behaviour and committed work ethic will demonstrate your ability to consistently deliver results, and contribute toward the continued success of an organisation on a steadfast trajectory toward world-class.

Special Conditions
Please note to be employed by the department in any role, applicants must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption endorsed by the Chief Public Health Officer (or delegate). Proof of vaccination status must be provided for sighting on request.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
