About the role and what you need to succeedSLR’s Soil Science team has a proven successful mix of practical industry experience, environmental impact assessment capability, project management skills, and regulatory knowledge. This includes providing valuable baseline information to better assess options for site management. Our focus on waste soil assessment and characterisation, and geochemistry integration into rehabilitation plans, creates a successful holistic view on the approach to land and soil management for clients.
As a member of our Soil Science team, you will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working on Soil Science related projects such as agronomical assessments, pasture science, land resource management and assessment, agricultural impact assessment, and soil erosivity assessments.
Reporting to the Technical Discipline Manager, you will be involved in delivering projects in the Soil Science team and be responsible for:
- Organising and undertaking field investigations, including contractor supervision and training of junior staff. Field investigations will be undertaken at various sites primarily across Queensland with the opportunity for interstate project work to arise in the future.
- Collation, assessment, and interpretation of data obtained from field investigations (undertaken by yourself and others) to meet the needs of our clients and provide innovative solutions to their problems.
- Compilation of high-quality technical reports that meet not only the expectations of our clients, but the expectations and requirements of the administering authority.
- Developing, facilitating, and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members
- Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Managers on projects regarding best principles and practices
To be successful in this roleYou will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and love getting things done to a very high standard. You are self-driven and comfortable with processes, whilst still being an excellent people person with a high level of client service. Ideally you would possess the following:
- Appropriate Engineering, Science or other relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated Soil Science industry experience
- An understanding of the Australian Soil Classification
- Excellent communication skills and technical report writing
- Demonstrated experience managing a range of small to large multidisciplinary projects (preferable)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team and independently
- Ability and willingness to undertake fieldwork within Queensland and interstate
