Department Name: Anatomical Pathology – Cytology & Immunopathology Laboratory, St Vincent’s Pathology (SydPath)

 

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists for this shared role (4 days per week in Cytology & 1 day per week immunopathology) for a highly motivated Technical Officer with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

Both anatomical pathology and immunopathology departments are busy units within SydPath at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. The departments are seeking to fill a position working in both the Cytology and Immunopathology laboratories.

Duties will include general laboratory testing, processing, preparation, accessioning, use and maintenance of equipment, QC/QA, stock maintenance and housekeeping.

 

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia. 2. Appropriate qualifications in a technical field relevant to the practice of pathology.

3. Knowledge of or previous experience in general immunology testing and Cytology.

4. Ability to follow defined protocols and procedures with excellent communication skills and an eye for detail.

5. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team environment and work within flexible working hours.

6. Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

7. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of quality improvement, control measures and WHS requirements.

8. Ability to appropriately action unusual/critical results.
