We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Administration & Technical Support Officer to join Woollahra Council’s Civil Operations department on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Waste Administration & Technical Support Officer, you will provide technical support and manage a variety of high-level administrative tasks to support the Civil Operations Department, Waste Services and to the Manager Civil Operations.

This role will require you to liaise with Council Staff, Contractors and Residents about a range of matters including waste procedures, customer requests, performance standards and assist in developing community awareness on waste reduction issues.

This role is centrally located at Council’s purpose built integrated facility in Alexandria which offers free onsite parking.

About you

We are seeking to engage someone with a background in administration and office support and is knowledgeable in current waste management strategies. Your attention to detail, problem solving and excellent customer service skills will ensure your success in this role.

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive experience in a relevant administration role and experience in providing office support to a small team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current waste management initiatives and strategies.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer skills including statistical analysis.
  • A demonstrated high level of customer service skills.
  • Well-developed report writing and oral communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Practical experience in the Waste Industry.
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate complex waste related information verbally and in writing for residents, business and general community.
  • Experience with updating webpages.
  • Understanding of Local Government.
