The role
As an Aircrew Officer, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of committed professionals, be part of a leading aeromedical organisation and enjoy a roster that provides work / life balance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • efficiently assist to conduct helicopter aerial fire-fighting / fire ground support tasking, training and SAR operations;
  • undertaking aircrew duties in accordance with CareFlight’s policy and procedures;
  • ensuring secondary non-flying duties are undertaken as allocated by the RW managers;
  • participating in Aircrew Officer training, as required / requested by RW managers; and
  • acting as a media liaison, as requested, and in collaboration with CareFlight’s Media, Communications & Media team.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Minimum 500 hours as a helicopter Aircrew Officer/Winch Operator.
  • Previous Fire/SAR/EMS experience.
  • Winch/Rappel competency in accordance with CAO 29.11.
  • Sound understanding of CAO’s, rules and regulations pertaining to the ACO role within a rotary wing operation.
  • Front Left Hand ACO experience.
  • NVG competency in accordance with CAO 82.6.
  • Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrewman) 2016 or newer.
  • Able to report to the base for duty/deployment within 60 minutes and willingness to deploy at short notice for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated experience working in small specialist teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and competency with CRM, Risk Management and Safety Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to take on non-flying related secondary duties.
  • Demonstrated competencies with computing systems such as Word, Excel, and iPad Flight Planning applications.
  • Current HUET Qualification.
  • Current CASA Class 2 Medical

The following will be highly regarded:

  • B412/BK117 experience.
  • Previous Training and Checking experience.
