We are seeking an APS 5 Compliance Assessment Officer who will specialise in the Security Assurance Group. You will be involved in regular audits and compliance checks on the Security aspects of Army units. The APS 5 Security Compliance Assessment Officer will be accountable for leading an audit and providing advice & assistance to various stakeholders across Army on all Security matters.
The advice you provide will be based on set policies, procedures & legislation to ensure compliance & best practice is being adhered to across Army units. You will also be expected to perform this role as a Compliance Assessment Officer within another secondary Assurance Group (see below under ‘About the Team’ for more detail).
The successful candidate will be able to commence on a Baseline Vetting level clearance whilst being upgraded to a Negative Vetting 1 clearance.
About our Team
The Army Compliance and Assurance Unit (ACAU) is responsible for ensuring a culture of compliance across Army. We conduct regular ‘audits’ on each Army unit whilst also providing regular advice & assistance to ensure units’ compliance with policy, legislation and guidelines. ACAU Compliance Officers are split between two Companies and a Head Quarters (HQ).
North Company is an integrated workforce of approx. 65 personnel, consisting of full time Army members, APS members and Army Reservists. You would work either at our Company HQ in Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera or in Robertson Barracks in Darwin. Our audits are grouped into six areas known as ‘Assurance Groups’. Each of our APS Compliance Officers have one primary Assurance Group plus one Secondary Assurance group.
These Assurance Groups are:
Finance, Pay Personnel & Unit Administration, Security, Supply Chain, Land Materiel Maintenance and Work Health & Safety.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have experience in providing advice to stakeholders in Security matters. The successful applicant must be comfortable communicating with and providing advice to a diverse range of stakeholders and demonstrate excellent communication and engagement skills.
They must be capable of producing written documentation accurately and succinctly, with a strong focus on attention to detail. The ability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation, policy and directives will be beneficial, as will the ability to analyse data and trends. We will provide training to the successful applicant in the conduct of compliance audits.
They must possess leadership attributes to successfully lead an audit team and must be capable of mentoring other members of their team.
