About Department
The Elective Surgery Team coordinates and case managers patients that are on the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne elective surgery and endoscopy waiting list in accordance with the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy. The team is responsible for the case management of all patients across the surgical and endoscopy specialties at SVHM. The team also coordinate all surgical and endoscopy pre-operative work up through our dedicated pre admission clinics.

About the Role
The Elective Surgery Theatre Sessions and Pre Admission Coordinator will play a central role in ensuring elective patients have optimal access to all available elective theatre and endoscopy room sessions. They will also ensure that the surgical Pre Admission Clinics operate to provide efficient and timely pre-operative care.


The classification for this position will be ZJ4 ($107,120 per annum).


  • Point of contact for surgical and endoscopy leave notifications

  • Point of contact for additional elective theatre session requests

  • Responsible for the coordination and be the point of contact for vacant elective theatre session backfill and allocation of additional elective theatre sessions

  • Coordination of the surgical Pre Admission Clinic

  • Coordination of administration and clinical nursing staff within the Pre Admission Clinic department

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Nursing, which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

  • Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA

  • Experience and awareness of elective surgery waitlist management or operating theatre experience

  • At least 5 years of surgical nursing experience

  • Highly skilled in negotiating with and engaging multi-disciplinary teams
