To support the delivery of Interpreter Services in a variety of formats to Queensland Health clients who are not proficient in English and enable clear communication of important clinical information, and to provide administrative support to the Metro South Interpreter Service team as needed.
Provide effective, fluent and confidential interpretation of verbal and written communication between patients/clients and hospital staff whilst complying with the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators Inc (AUSIT) code of ethics.
Make use of available technology to enable increased delivery of interpreting services.
Assess patient/clients interpreting needs and provide culturally relevant information to health care providers with regard to patient care and provision of information within the Queensland Health Care System.
Provide a liaison role within the Hospital for the Vietnamese speaking community.
Provide translating skills in Vietnamese and English languages of medical documents and health related material.
Communicate with families to confirm appointments, provide general advice on hospital visit, assist with completion of relevant forms, and other duties as required.
Maintain up to date listing of interpreting jobs which require completion daily, ensuring bookings are streamlined and allocated efficiently and outcomes and standards are met.
Complete data entry into relevant systems accurately.
