Library Services

Georges River Libraries employs approx. 65 staff who work across five libraries. All our staff are committed to and passionate about working with our local community to provide them with innovative and accessible resources.

Our purpose is to deliver professional public library services with open access to information and places for the whole community to come together to share ideas, knowledge and experiences. The way we fulfil our role has been and will continue to be transformed by the changing face of our diverse community as well as advances in online sources of information and digital opportunities. About the Opportunity

  • Permanent Part time - 9 hours per fortnight (Saturday - 9am-1.30pm)
  • Salary from $71,549.49 - $82,900.99 per annum (pro-rata) plus 10% superannuation

Georges River Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Library Supervisor (Weekend) to join our dynamic and busy Library Services Team. The successful candidate will provide support for the tasks, programs, systems and projects of the Library Customer Experience team including the delivery of a high quality customer focused library service that meets the expectations of its diverse customers.

This role will provide technical support and instructional training to staff and customers. Other key accountabilities includes taking on the role of shift supervisor, delivering information services, implementing policies and procedures to maintain the function of Library Services. As part of career development and job rotation this position have the opportunity to move between teams and libraries.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications, Certificates & Licences

  • TAFE qualifications in Library and Information Studies or equivalent and/or significant industry experience.

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in library and information services
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated high level computer literacy skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train staff in service delivery
  • Demonstrated high level customer focused approach to service delivery
  • Demonstrated analytical, time management, organisational and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in supporting online services and technology in public libraries
  • Must have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine prior to commencement of employment with Georges River Council, except where a medical contraindication certificate is provided.
