• Temporary Full-time opportunity till 30 June 2023
• Location: Preferred location based at NSW SES State Headquarters in Wollongong - regional locations may be considered with flexible working arrangements available.
• Maximum TRP $139,066.71 (Salary Range $113,343 -$124,901) Total remuneration package includes salary plus employer's 10% contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the opportunity

The Manager Contracts and Procurement Stay Safe and Keep Operational (SSKO) partners with stakeholders to plan, develop, source, and manage contractors and procurement, including ensuring information integrity, negotiating changes/modifications and monitoring supplier performance, delivering business outcomes aligned with the NSW SES business objectives.

Working on the SSKO Program, the procurement officer will help support projects focused on the implementation of several initiatives aimed at improving member and volunteer safety by mitigating operational communications risks. All projects will focus on operational communication initiatives with specific focus on eld-based deployment of mobile communication infrastructure and systems.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent. NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities.

While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have demonstrated previous experience in leading a Procurement team that delivers exceptional strategic procurement advice, customer service with an excellent understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
• Experience in undertaking business assessments, market analysis and commercial risk assessments to inform procurement planning and sourcing decisions.
• Strong background in leading co-ordination and execution of tendering and sourcing activities along with the establishment of contracts and supply arrangements that meet the business’ requirements.
• Excellent negotiation skills in dealing with a myriad of contracts, supplier relationships with the ability to develop and implement contract management plans in line with SES guidelines
• Demonstrable leadership capabilities with a s strong record of managing small teams
