  • An exciting opportunity exists within the Supreme Court of Victoria, working between the chambers of Associate Justice Gardiner and Associate Justice Hetyey. The Associate Judges Division hears a variety of civil matters, including interlocutory applications and trials. Both Judges share a strong focus on the Corporations List and insolvency matters, and a variety of other civil matters arising from the Associate Judges’ Practice Court.
  • The VPSG3 Associate fixed term role will commence in August 2022 and be for a period of 12 months.

The successful candidate will require excellent written and oral communication skills, organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment. High-level research skills are also essential.

The Associate will be required to provide high-level legal support and administrative services both in chambers and in the courtroom. As they are busy chambers, the role requires excellent time management skills, an ability to prioritise workload, a strong customer service focus and a capacity to communicate at all levels. Post graduate professional experience is preferred.

Duties include:


  • legal research and participation in judgment preparation

  • proofreading and editing judgments

  • clerking in court (including virtually)

  • liaising with Court staff, the public and the profession

  • document management

  • judgments
