Three year fixed term contract, full time hours, with flexible working available

The Public Interest Advocacy Centre is a leading social justice law and policy centre. We build a fairer, stronger society by helping to change laws, policies and practices that cause injustice and inequality.

Our priorities include reducing homelessness, First Nations justice, climate change and social justice, equality and non-discrimination, asylum seeker health rights and the fair use of police powers.

PIAC offers a dynamic workplace where wellbeing is promoted, and flexibility supported.

PIAC is co-ordinating the NSW campaign, as part of the national campaign, to raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility from 10 years to at least 14 years.

Reporting to the Director, Policy, and Advocacy, you will lead PIAC’s work in co-ordinating this campaign, working with existing partners in the NSW Raise the Age coalition and expanding the overall supporter base in number, diversity, and influence. This includes:

developing and executing campaign plans
engaging strategically in media and other public debates
co-ordinating political engagement activities

You have a proven track record in campaign advocacy including design, implementation, and oversight of successful campaigns. You have an understanding the issues affecting First Nations people and communities, an in depth knowledge of the political environment at state level, and ideally the NSW youth justice system. Additionally, you can:

grow and sustain large numbers of people and organisations supporting the campaign
manage competing priorities, delivering on agreed milestones and outcomes
engage in media and other public debates with influence

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

If you can secure support for this vital reform to keep children out of custody, please send your resume along with a covering letter and responses to the knowledge, skills and experience section.

Inquiries should be directed to Alastair Lawrie via alawrie@piac.asn.au.

Please send your application to jobs@piac.asn.au, including Campaign Manager, Raise the Age in the subject field. Please note there is no application close date, and we invite you to apply as soon as possible.
