This role is based in the Brisbane office, and reports to the Head of Corporate Actuarial Asia Pacific. As part of the Finance division, the Corporate Actuarial function operates globally with a direct relevance to the business, following the practices of Technical Excellence in the Allianz Group.
Coordinating with the local businesses across Asia Pacific and the other Corporate Actuarial locations, you will drive the implementation of the reserving strategy for the Travel, Health and Assistance lines of business. This includes the reserve setting, assessment of underwriting performance, support to Solvency II actuarial function activities and contributing to other actuarial and Finance projects.
In order to optimize the company’s financial performance, you will challenge existing processes, analyse deviations, proactively propose corrective actions, elaborate mitigation plans and monitor implementation.
You would be expected to liaise outside of the company with Allianz Group functions, mainly from Finance, other business divisions or other Group entities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will undertake a wide variety of work and provide highly valued actuarial support to all areas across the
Asia Pacific region; including but not limited to:
- Engaging the local businesses and other Corporate Actuarial hubs to implement and maintain the reserving strategy from around the world.
- Perform full actuarial valuation of claims of several Business Units/Countries within the Asia Pacific region, covering multiple lines of business
- Analyse and discuss underwriting performance with the local businesses
- Project expected technical profitability as input into planning procedures
- Contribute to the data governance/quality across the APAC region.
- Active involvement with other group systems developments and other actuarial projects across the world.
AS THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE, YOU CAN SHOW:
- Senior Actuarial expert working toward qualification or already qualified in a recognized actuarial profession
- Experience of Non-Life insurance reserving experience
- Effective Project Management Skills
- A hands-on self-starter with a solution-oriented approach
- Great interpersonal and polished communication skills with the ability to work in a global, multicultural, matrix organisation
- Team player but able to work independently
- Experience with reserving software, ResQ or equivalent, would be highly regarded
