The City of Sydney is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic leader for Head of Business Operations as part of the Major Events and Festivals team.
The Major Events and Festivals team delivers the City's Cultural Plan through a series of large scale, major public and cultural events including Sydney New Year’s Eve, Sydney Lunar Festival, Sydney Christmas, Art & About, and Capital Works launch events.
The primary purpose of this position is to work with the Producer Major Events & Festivals to manage all business operations in order to successfully plan, manage and deliver the annual program of major events produced for the City of Sydney by the business unit. The position leads strategic business unit planning and development, finance including annual budgeting and ongoing management and procurement requirements; legal and governance requirements; commercial and compliance obligations; negotiation of significant contracts; and management of staffing resources.
Working with the Major Events’ Producer and senior management team, you will have demonstrated experience working successfully with cross-functional teams, superior leadership, strategic planning and communications skills, and advanced budget, procurement, and contract management experience.
To be successful you will have tertiary qualifications and/or significant senior experience in contracting, procurement, commercial risk, financial and business management in a government or statutory environment. You will possess maturity, discretion, sound judgement and the capacity to act autonomously, with demonstrated experience working in a high performing, collaborative team.
