You will be responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient medical service within the objectives and philosophies of the Paediatric & Reproductive Genetics Unit (PRGU), Women’s & Children’s Health Network (WCHN) and the Adult Genetics Unit (AGU), Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). Under supervision, you will provide medical care to public and private inpatients and outpatients, and participate in teaching and research activities. Encouraging and supporting teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomes, you will ensure the maintenance of high quality medical records which document significant patient management decisions, and coordinate the follow-up care of hospital inpatients and outpatients. Holding a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent), you will be registrable as a Medical Practitioner by the Medical Board of South Australia. With prior experience working as a medical practitioner, you will bring the ability to work effectively with Clinical Geneticists, Genetic Counsellors, other medical staff, pathologists, laboratory staff, clerical staff, resident medical staff and nursing and other paramedical staff. Your high level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to interact effectively with patients and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
This role is open to both Adult and Paediatric Clinical Genetics trainees.
As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the 6 or 12 month allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
