We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Finance & Investment Team Leader at Perth Head Office, on a permanent basis.


 


About this role

As the Corporate Finance & Investment Team Leader you will be required to:

  • Be responsible for leading a diverse and specialised professional team accountable for investment evaluation and corporate finance activities across Western Power.
  • The position leads a team of specialists and analysts who partner with the business to ensure the corporation acts in accordance with prudent commercial principles. This position is responsible for effective management of the immediate team and will champion flexible ways of working that increase overall capability and productivity within the Area.
  • Support the Head of Function’s role as Secretariat to the Investment Review Committee as directed by the Area Manager or Head of Function
  • Contribute to, and coordinate the delivery and review of, the: Investment Management Policy, Governance Framework and Standards; including resourcing Secretariat support to the Investment Review Committee
  • Ensure key deliverables are met by the team within the agreed timeframes (according to SLA or similar) that enables timely and effective business decisions.
  • Creatively resource the team to deliver high quality work. Manage workloads and seek out opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity and develop cross-skilling to reduce single points of reliance/ failure.
  • Develop the leadership behaviours and capability of the team and establish cross-skilling and shared accountabilities to break down silos and ensure flexibility according to the teamwork pattern.
  • Understand the technical deliverables of the team and contribute to the operational outputs.

 

About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Extensive and demonstrable capability in delivering commercially focused outcomes that increase value.
  • Demonstrable capability in communicating the drivers of value to raise commercial acumen in the business and give effect to change
  • Demonstrable capability in prioritising deliverables, and resourcing and managing teams to produce objective, evidence-based commercial outcomes that meet stakeholder milestones within budget
  • Accountable for the update of corporate finance and investment policies, frameworks, and standards
  • Provide effective governance of corporate finance and investment activities by leveraging advanced analytical skills to assess commercial prudence, risk management, and due diligence
  • Demonstrable capability in leading, inspiring diverse teams and developing team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence/negotiate in collaborative, cooperative manner; and proven effectiveness in managing strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Relevant utility/industry experience, skills, and knowledge.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework in which a utility operates and the link between business decisions and the impact on regulatory outcomes.
  • Experience in a Corporate Development function within a financial or commercial environment
  • Degree qualification in commerce (includes business, finance, economics, accounting) or other quantitative literate discipline (e.g., mathematics).
  • Post graduate qualification
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (e.g., CPA, CA, ACTA)
