We have a unique opportunity for a General Manager - Marketing to join our fabulous team to champion our high profile marketing function. This role requires an individual with sound commercial, strong analytical and marketing experience with an underlying creative flair. This is a key leadership position and will suit a dynamic, hands-on innovative leader that is ready to make their mark on our business and industry.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer of Seven West Media WA (SWMWA), you will be responsible for leading a highly motivated consumer marketing team to deliver ground-breaking and engaging marketing initiatives that drive audience growth and engagement across all of the brands and products in WA. The role works closely with all departments in the business to achieve key customer and audience objectives.
One of the areas of importance for this role is The West Australian’s subscriber lifecycle program including acquisition and retention initiatives for print and digital customers. This involves leading the implementation of new digital marketing programs and closely managing performance to target. The key focus is also on The West Australian, thewest.com.au, The Sunday Times, Perth Now, and Regional Newspapers.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Playing an active part in strategy setting, providing insight and knowledge to help guide and improve the business position
- Working with the team to foster a work environment and culture, in particular growing capability and high performance
- Covering key marketing functions such as Subscriber Lifecycle (The West Australian) with a strong focus on acquisition, retention and West Rewards
- Leading consumer marketing including brand, consumer promotions and content marketing (editorial, news and entertainment)
- Working on trade marketing, (B2B for advertising clients) sponsorships and activations
- Managing Creative Studio (graphic design and TV Production)
- High performance in areas such as acquisition of digital subscriptions on thewest.com.au and retaining existing subscribers by driving engagement with the product, usage and value
- Achieving and driving growth in newspaper readership , digital audience and advertising
- Working closely with other business departments, exercising communication and collaboration to achieve set outcomes
- Developing and managing the financial year marketing budget including ongoing financial analysis of expenditure and re-forecasting
- Following well defined long-term and short-term tasks as defined by the Chief Marketing Officer, and communicating updates and achievements to the marketing department and CMO
You must have:
- Successful completion of a tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a relevant discipline
- Strong knowledge of media is essential, in particular print and digital
- Demonstrated previous experience as a senior marketing executive or similar position
- Sound commercial and marketing experience with an understanding of audience segmentation and ability to develop strategies to achieve growth and retain audience
- Experience in integrated marketing and brand campaigns is integral
- A strong understanding of and proven experience working with digital marketing platforms including CRM or marketing automation tools, performance marketing strategies across social and digital channels
- An understanding of customer focused marketing, with an ability to read and interpret a variety of customer data (including by not limited to newspaper readership and sales data, digital analytics and customer research findings)
- The ability to motivate and lead the marketing team to ensure team members are aligned to the business strategy and goals
- Strong analytical skills with proven experience in turning insights and data into actionable outcomes and results
- Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships across all levels of the organization with a consultative approach
- An optimistic and strategic thinker with demonstrated resilience
- Ability to adapt to dramatic and continued changes in the workplace
