The Chemistry Centre provides NATA accredited analyses of water, soil, sediment, biota and plant samples to support research and decision making for agricultural, environmental and resource management outcomes. We advise on analytical methods, sampling techniques and the interpretation of results. The Chemistry Centre's core areas of expertise are: analytical chemistry, water chemistry, soil chemistry, sediment geochemistry and environmental tracing.
To be successful in this position you must have:
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and substantial experience in laboratory quality management and accreditation systems as per NATA and ISO17025 requirements related to Analytical chemistry.
- Demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety legislation and current procedures pertaining to laboratory safety and safety management systems.
- Demonstrated high-level expertise and knowledge in the laboratory best practices and techniques, method development and instrument operation with respect to chemical and physical analysis, and safe work practices.
- Demonstrated advanced level of initiative and ability to work unsupervised.
- Demonstrated advanced level of oral and written communication skills. Highly developed interpersonal skills including stakeholder consultation and negotiation skills and the ability to build sound working relationships with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with all levels of the organisational structure.
- Demonstrated organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, thinking strategically to solve problems, show initiative, and taking responsibility for the accuracy of your work.
- Advanced computer skills, including experience in the use of databases as well as statistical and word-processing software.
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Science/Chemistry, or Applied Chemistry or agreed equivalent.
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
